BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College junior Lindsay McNamara (Milton, Mass.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week. The leading scorer on the nation's top-ranked team, McNamara has nine goals and two assists this season.
Last weekend, McNamara had a hand in both Bowdoin goals as the Polar Bears won the battle of the top two teams in the NESCAC, 2-1 over Tufts. She assisted on the first goal of the game, and then knocked home the game-winning tally with 8:10 remaining to lift the Polar Bears to victory.
McNamara was a First-Team All-NESCAC and Third-Team All-American in 2006 and is the second-leading scorer in the conference this year. She is closing in on several school records, totaling 42 goals and 13 assists for her career. McNamara is third all-time in program history in goals, just eight shy of the program record. Her 97 career points are fourth in school history, 28 points shy of the program mark.
Currently, the Polar Bears are unbeaten at 9-0 (6-0 NESCAC) this season. They will host Maine-Farmington at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday in their next game.
