The course will begin at the Magee-Saumuelson track at Whittier Field and wind through the roads adjacent to the Stadium. It will conclude back at Whittier Field after a running finish through the Bowdoin pines. A complete map of the course will be available at registration on Sunday morning. For more information on the race, contact Nathan Alsobrook at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Phil Soule coached football at Bowdoin College for 39 years. He was an assistant coach in lacrosse, squash and track in addition to football, and served as a head coach for the baseball and wrestling teams. His earlier players nicknamed Phil "Boulder." After his untimely death in January of 2006, former players and friends contributed to a memorial "Boulder" which can be viewed at Whittier Field. One of the founders of the Maine Rowdies running club, Phil was a competitive runner. Marathons, Ultra-marathons and Triathlons were his favorite. It was Phil's philosophy to live each day to its fullest. The intent of today's 5K "Phlail" is to live up to that belief.
