Field Hockey Ranked Third in Preseason Poll

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The two-time defending NESCAC Champion Bowdoin College field hockey team has been ranked third in STX/NFHCA Preseason Division III poll. The Polar Bears have qualified for the NCAA Final Four in each of the past two years and have the best record of any field hockey program in the nation since 2006, going 35-3 overall.

Bowdoin will open their season the weekend of September 8-9 with matches at Wellesley and Wheaton before returning to Ryan Field for their home-opener on September 12 against Husson College.

The Polar Bears are one of three NESCAC schools in the poll and are followed by Middlebury (#7) and Williams (#12) in the rankings. Defending National Champion Ursinus is ranked first, while Messiah College follows at number two.
