BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College first-year Joe Pace (Newburyport, Mass.) has been named Second-Team All-NESCAC in selections announced by the conference office. The rookie pitcher and outfielder enjoyed a fantastic campaign as the Polar Bears went 18-16 and qualified for the NESCAC Tournament in the second-straight season.
Pace anchored Bowdoin's starting pitching staff, finishing the year 4-3 with a 3.98 earned-run-average. He closed the season with his two strongest outings, tossing a complete-game effort in a 5-1 victory over Southern Maine on May 1 before going 7.0 innings and allowing just one run in a NESCAC Tournament loss to Williams on May 11.
At the plate Pace was outstanding as well, leading the team with a .415 batting average for the year. In just 53 at-bats, he rapped out 32 total bases, including two home runs and 13 RBI's.He finished the season with a .604 slugging percentage and .443 on-base percentage.
