BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College senior men's ice hockey player Tim McVaugh has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week. McVaugh led Bowdoin to a pair of key conference victories, putting the Polar Bears at the top of the league standings entering the final week of regular season play.
McVaugh celebrated Senior Weekend at Dayton Arena with three goals and two assists in the two victories. Friday evening against Trinity, McVaugh had a hand in four of Bowdoin?s five goals, scoring two and assisting on two others, including the game-winner, in a 5-4 win. On Saturday against Wesleyan, McVaugh tied the game at two in the second period with his sixth goal of the season, as the Polar Bears went on to an eventual 3-2 victory. In 60 career games, McVaugh has scored 19 goals and posted 26 assists.
Bowdoin currently has a 13-5-3 overall record and is ranked 10th in the latest USCHO.com Division III National Poll. The Polar Bears will round out their regular season at Norwich and St. Michael's this weekend, needing three points (one win, one tie) to assure themselves of the top seed in the upcoming NESCAC Tournament.
