Farrell Named Interim Women's Hockey Coach

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College has announced the hiring of Heather Farrell as the Interim Head Coach for Women's Ice Hockey. Farrell, who has been an assistant for the Polar Bears for the past two seasons, will replace Michele Amidon, who accepted a position at USA Hockey last month.

Farrell graduated from Ohio State University in 2004, where she played 132 games for the Buckeyes, scoring 29 goals and 32 assists. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Sport Studies with a minor in Coaching and Sport Performance and led Ohio State to a berth in the WCHA semifinals as a senior.

While at Bowdoin, Farrell has been an integral part of building the current team, and has been behind the bench as the squad has posted a 37-14-2 mark in the past two years. The Polar Bears earned an NCAA Tournament bid in 2004-05, and have played for the NESCAC Championship both seasons, finishing first in league play in '04-'05.
