BRUNSWICK, Maine - Kristina A. Sproat has been named as an Assistant Coach for the Bowdoin College men's and women's tennis teams.
Sproat joins the Bowdoin College Tennis program from Houston, Texas, and has an extensive background in tennis with a plethora of coaching and playing experience. She coached for several years at private and public clubs in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas metroplex. She also ran tennis camps and tennis tournaments throughout the Longhorn state. Most recently she worked as a Contract Tennis Professional in Houston where she was the Assistant Coach for the Boys Private High School State Champions. Beyond that, she worked privately and in groups with all ages and levels of players.
She graduated with Honors from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. While at Tarleton she competed on scholarship for their Division II Women's Tennis Team and was an ITA All-Academic Scholar Athlete. The Texans qualified for the Division II National Championships two out of the three years Sproat competed. Prior to Tarleton, she competed for Seminole State Junior College on full scholarship where she was nationally ranked #13 in NJCAA singles.
Sproat received a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology with a minor in Sports and Exercise Studies from Tarleton. A focus of her studies during that time was Sport Psychology. She has begun work on her Master's of Fine Arts in Screenwriting and Film Studies at Hollins University in Roanoke, VA where she has made three films and written several more.
