BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College women's ice hockey player Kristen Cameron (Charlottetown, P.E.I.) has been named a First-Team All-American in selections announced last weekend at the Division III Frozen Four. Cameron, a sophomore defender, has been a NESCAC First-Team selection in the first two years of her career.
One of the top two-way players in Division III, Cameron's excellent defensive play is matched by her offensive output. She was third on the team in scoring last season, scoring 12 goals and 20 assists. A lethal threat on the powerplay, she notched three goals on the advantage and was tied for the team-lead with three game-winners. She was Bowdoin's leading scorer in conference play, topping the squad with 25 points in NESCAC contests.
After just two seasons, she has scored 33 goals and 36 assists, and is closing in on the 100-point barrier; a mark reached by only eight players in Bowdoin history, none of whom were defenders. Bowdoin finished the 2005-06 campaign as runners-up in the New England Small College Athletic Conference Tournament with a record of 17-9-1.
