BRUNSWICK, Maine - Today the NECVL announced the result of a vote on mid-season rankings for New England division two play. This ranking follows up the pre-season ranking of February 1st. The ranking was based on play in each of two NECVL tournaments at which Bowdoin earned second place in the North Division. Bowdoin was ranked 7th in the "Elite Eight," holding steady at their pre-season rank despite injuries and other setbacks. The full ranking is as follows: · 1 - Fairfield · 2 - Siena · 3 - Plymouth State · 4 - UMass Lowell · 5 - Williams · 6 - Brown · 7 - Bowdoin · 8 - Maine · HM - Bates
Fairfield and Siena both retained their pre-season rank, while Plymouth passed up UMass-Lowell. Williams and Brown moved up while Stonehill and UNE were dropped from the Elite Eight. UMaine-Orono and Bates earned spots on the listing based on their play within the North Division with Bowdoin.
Bowdoin was defeated by Plymouth State on February 11th, but still has a chance to upset UMass-Lowell and Brown on February 26th in interdivisional play. If Bowdoin continues to play with the intensity and skill they have demonstrated thus far in the season, there is no reason they should not remain on and improve on this listing in the coming weeks.
