Forney Named Player of the Week


BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College women's ice hockey player Katie Forney (Gettysburg, Pa.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week for her performance in three Polar Bear victories last week. Bowdoin is ranked ninth in the latest national poll and stands at 13-6-0 overall this season.

Forney led a lethal Polar Bear attack that exploded for 29 goals through three games last week, contributing almost 40 percent of the Bowdoin offense by herself. Forney lit the lamp a total of six times while chipping in five assists for a total of 11 points. She started the week with two goals against St. Olaf on Tuesday before collecting a hat trick and two assists on Saturday at Trinity. Forney capped the week with a goal and an assist on Sunday at Hamilton.

The junior stands second in the NESCAC in scoring in the process with 14-14-28. She is also second among active Bowdoin players in scoring with 32 goals and 33 assists in 69 career games.
