BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College first-year forward Jill Anelauskas (Medfield, Mass.) has collected a pair of weekly honors for her play in two Polar Bear victories last weekend. Anelauskas has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week and the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Rookie of the Week.
Anelauskas averaged 21 points and five rebounds per game off the bench for Bowdoin, which extended the nation's longest home-court winning streak to 64 games with wins over Amherst and Trinity. Friday against Amherst, Anelauskas led all scorers with 17 points on 8-for-16 shooting in just 20 minutes of work. She followed it up with a career-high 25 points and eight boards on 9-for-12 shooting in Saturday's win over Trinity. For the weekend, the first-year connected on 60.7% of her shots. She is second on the team in scoring this year, averaging 11.9 points per game and leads the squad with 80% shooting from the free-throw line.
Bowdoin (15-2), ranked sixth in the latest national poll, will host Bates College in a key non-conference match-up on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
