Squash Plays Well at Yale Round Robin

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Bowdoin College squash teams played admirably at the Yale Round Robin Tournament last weekend. The Polar Bear women posted a 2-3 mark, losing to three squads ranked in the top-10 nationally, while the Bowdoin men carded a 4-1 record. The women's team is ranked 12th in the latest national poll with a 10-4 overall record. The men's squad is 6-3 this season and ranked 14th in the latest national poll.

The women's team suffered three straight losses to start the weekend, dropping to ninth-ranked Cornell (6-3), fifth-ranked Penn (9-0) and third-ranked Trinity (8-1) before finishing the weekend strong. The Polar Bears got back on the winning track with convincing victories over Hamilton (9-0) and Franklin & Marshall (8-1). Niki Clement led Bowdoin with a 3-1 record over the weekend, while Lydia Pillsbury and Dodie Press also collected three wins.

The men's team won four straight on Friday and Saturday, including a 6-3 decision over 13th-ranked Navy. The Polar Bears followed it up with wins over Denison (6-3), Hobart (9-0) and Hamilton (8-1) on Saturday before ending the weekend with a loss to 15th-ranked Franklin & Marshall, 6-3. The Bowdoin men were paced by a 4-1 weekend from a trio of players; as Chris Nehrbas, Nick Adams and Jacob Sack. Ray Carta was perfect over the weekend, going 4-0 for the Polar Bears.
