BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's squash team ended their first-semester schedule with a sensational weekend at the Wesleyan Round Robin in Connecticut. The Polar Bears captured five wins, all in impressive fashion, to improve to 7-0 on the season.
Saturday saw the Polar Bears take easy wins over Middlebury (9-0) and Wesleyan (9-0) before taking a hard-fought 6-3 decision over William Smith. Bowdoin's Niki Clement and Emilie McKenna took critical wins at the top of the ladder against the Herons and the middle of the pack also earned important victories courtesy of Alexandra Franceschi, Madeleine McQueeney, Jacqueline Deysher and Elizabeth Gillespie.
Bowdoin followed Saturday's impressive showing with two more dominating wins on Sunday. The Polar Bears beat Stanford and Mt. Holyoke by duplicate 8-1 scores. Five Bowdoin players sported perfect 5-0 marks for the weekend, led by McKenna, who won every match in the number two position. Franceschi, McQueeney, Deysher and Gillespie also earned five wins over the weekend.
The Polar Bears will return to action on January 7 in their home-opener against Williams College.
