Women's Soccer Players Earn NESCAC Honors

BRUNSWICK, Maine - A pair of seniors and sophomores from Bowdoin's women's soccer team earned NESCAC recognition in postseason honors announced on Thursday. Senior midfielder Kelsey Wilcox (#10, Cumberland, Maine) and sophomore forward Ann Zeigler (#20, Washington, D.C.) captured First-Team honors, while Anna Shapell (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and Kat Whitley (Birmingham, Ala.) grabbed Second-Team honors. The Polar Bears reached the NESCAC Semifinals for the sixth straight season and finished with a 10-5-1 mark this year.

Zeigler led the Polar Bears with 10 goals and four assists this season. The sophomore from the nation's capital also tallied a team-high four game-winning scores this year, and earned NESCAC Player of the Week recognition following her four-goal weekend on October 29 and 30. Wilcox closed out her Bowdoin career with a flourish, scoring two goals and two assists this season while serving as one of the Polar Bears' top two-way players. The Cumberland native finished her women's soccer career with 10 career goals and seven assists.

Sophomore Kat Whitley (pictured, on right) captured a Second-Team nod after another solid season offensively for Bowdoin. Her four goals and five assists, including two game-winning tallies, was good enough for second on the squad in scoring. Meanwhile, Waynflete graduate Anna Shapell (pictured, on left) closed out her career with a solid campaign between the pipes for the Polar Bears, posting a 0.93 goals-against-average and four shutouts.
