Leclerc Named Player of the Week

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College senior quarterback Ricky Leclerc (Manchester, N.H.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday's victory against Wesleyan University. Leclerc had a record-setting afternoon, throwing for five touchdown passes in a 35-10 victory.

Leclerc was outstanding from start-to-finish against the over-matched Cardinals, throwing for 317 yards on 16-25 passing. Three of Leclerc's touchdowns went to receiver Jeff Nolin, who tied the school mark for touchdown receptions in a single game. Scott Brisson and Jared Prichard also gathered in scoring strikes for the Polar Bears, who clinched their first winning season since 1998.

Leclerc, who already holds the single-game record for passing yards (395), is chasing down a few potential single-season marks. His 1053 passing yards this season leave him 398 yards short of the single-season record, while his nine touchdown passes are three shy of the single-season mark.

Bowdoin will will return to action at rival Bates College on Saturday at 12:30. The Polar Bears are 5-1 for the first time since 1970.
