Men's Soccer Cracks Top-25

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's soccer team is 4-0-1 in their last five games and has cracked the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's Top 25 poll this week. The Polar Bears (10-2-1), who close out their regular season on Saturday at home against Wesleyan, are ranked 21st in Division III.

The key to the Polar Bears' recent success has been outstanding defensive play. Bowdoin has allowed just two goals in five contests since October 8, out-scoring their opponents 15-2 during the stretch. Goaltender Nathan Lovitz has been perfect against his last three NESCAC opponents, and has not allowed a goal in conference play in over 254 minutes. Nick Figueiredo has provided the spark offensively, scoring four goals, including two game-winners, to go with three assists during the recent run.

Bowdoin can earn a first-round NESCAC home contest with a victory over the visiting Cardinals on Saturday. If Bowdoin loses, their are numerous scenarios that could result in the Polar Bears being on the road for their first-round contests. NESCAC first-round games are slated for Sunday.
