BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College defensive back Dave Donahue (Ashland, Mass.) has been named the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance last weekend in the Polar Bears' victory over Amherst College. The Polar Bears, who play at Tufts this Saturday, are 2-0 for the first time since 1980.
Donahue was part of an outstanding defensive effort for Bowdoin on Saturday that forced seven Amherst turnovers. The junior defensive back contributed on four of them, including a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown that gave Bowdoin the game's first score.
Donahue added two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery on the afternoon in addition to five solo tackles. Donahue is tied for the team lead and is second in the conference with 26 total tackles this season.
