BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin women's soccer goalkeeper Anna Shapell (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) has been named NESCAC Player of the Week for her efforts in two victories last weekend. Shapell, a graduate of Waynflete School, played 157 minutes of scoreless soccer between the pipes for the Polar Bears, who will return to action Saturday when they host rival Colby.
Shapell paced a Polar Bear defense that stonewalled Bridgewater State on Saturday, 3-0. On Sunday, Shapell made seven saves in her 16th career shutout against Babson, 2-0.
The senior is climbing the ranks of Bowdoin's all-time netminders, ranking fourth in career shutouts (16), fifth in career wins (29) and seventh in career goals-against-average (0.80).
