BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College Athletic Department has announced the addition of two coaches to the football staff. Tim Ryan '98 and Ryan Jones will join the Polar Bears for the 2005 campaign, which begins on September 24 vs. Middlebury College.
Tim Ryan, a 1998 graduate of Bowdoin, returns to his alma mater to coordinate recruiting and coach the inside linebackers. A native of Wells, Maine and a graduate of Phillips Exeter, Ryan was a tri-captain linebacker on the 1997 Polar Bear squad that won the CBB Championship. A double-major in Government and Economics, he was a Maine Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete and member of the Residential Life staff at Bowdoin. He and his wife Jennie reside in Brunswick.
Ryan Jones joins the Bowdoin coaching staff as the outside linebacking coach for the 2005 season after three campaigns as an assistant at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. A graduate of Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, Jones in a native of the Keystone State, hailing from Blairsville and an alum of the Kiski School in Saltsburg. A two-year starter on the offensive line at Allegheny, Jones was the offensive line and strength coach at Puget Sound for two seasons before taking over as defensive line coach and special teams coordinator last year.
