BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College women's lacrosse player Kendall Cox (Guilford, Conn.) has been named NESCAC Co-Player of the Week for her performance in three Polar Bear victories last week. The Polar Bears, ranked sixth in the latest poll, are likely to rise in this week's poll following a 10-7 overtime victory at third-ranked Amherst on Saturday. Bowdoin sports a 14-2 mark this year, just one win shy of tying the school's single-season wins mark.
Cox had a stellar week as the Polar Bears won three NESCAC games. Cox was especially outstanding over the weekend as she made eight saves, including three in overtime, as Bowdoin up-ended Amherst to grab the second seed in the NESCAC Tournament. On Sunday against Wesleyan in a first-round NESCAC contest, she made a season-high 14 stops in a 13-6 victory.
Cox has played more minutes than any other goalie in the NESCAC and ranks third in the conference in both goals-against-average (6.92) and save percentage (.536). Rachel Barr of Williams shared the NESCAC's weekly honor with Cox, who is the first Bowdoin player and goaltender to be honored by the conference this year.
