BRUNSWICK, Maine - Thanks to a pair of game-winning goals this weekend at Williams and Middlebury, Bowdoin first-year women's ice hockey player Kristen Cameron (Charlottetown, PEI) has been named the NESCAC co-Player of the Week. In addition, the Polar Bears (17-3-1, 13-1-0 NESCAC) skated to number four in the latest USCHO.com National Poll.
Cameron scored three goals, including two game-winners, as Bowdoin secured the inside track to the NESCAC's top postseason seed with a pair of wins at Williams and Middlebury. Cameron scored two goals, including the tiebreaker in the second frame, as the Polar Bears topped the Ephs, 4-1 on Friday. On Saturday, the rookie forward scored Bowdoin's third goal early in the final period of a 5-2 victory at top-ranked Middlebury. With 17 goals and 12 assists this year, she is the NESCAC's leading rookie scorer.
The Polar Bears have clinched at least the second seed in the upcoming NESCAC Tournament and can earn the top seed with any combination of three points on the weekend. Bowdoin hosts Wesleyan on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Trinity at 4:00 p.m on Saturday.
