BRUNSWICK, Maine - Sophomore women's basketball player Eileen Flaherty (Fairfield, Conn.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week and the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week for her play in two Bowdoin victories last week. The Polar Bears are ranked first in the latest D3Hoops.com national poll (released 1/24, click HERE) and are 14-1 this season.
Flaherty was dominant in two road victories for Bowdoin, averaging 25.5 points and 7.5 rebounds for the week. Last year's NESCAC Rookie of the Year connected on 9 of 13 shots and grabbed eight boards in a win at Ithaca before carrying the Bowdoin offense with 32 points (out of the team's 56 total) in a victory at Colby, shooting 10-13 from the field. She is tied for third in the conference in scoring this year, averaging 15.2 points per game.
