2004-05 Swimming and Diving Preview

Head Coach: Brad Burnham (fourth season)

Women's Top Returners: Nicole Goyette, Victoria Tudor, Mindy Chism, Katie Chapman, Megan McLean

Women's Leading Newcomers: Jessica Hortskotte, Kerry Brodziak

Men's Top Returners: Roger Burleigh, Carter Thomas, Mike Sighinolfi, Jason Lewis, Ian Kyle

Men's Leading Newcomers: Ben Rachlin, Sean Sullivan

WOMEN'S OUTLOOK: The women's swim team, despite posting a 1-6 record in dual meets, had several outstanding performances and has as large a pool of talent as in recent memory. Sophomore Katie Chapman shattered numerous school records and is part of a dynamic sophomore duo with classmate Megan McLean. Upperclassmen Nicole Goyette, Victoria Tudor and Mindy Chism will be among the top in their events in the NESCAC, which boasts some of the highest competition in Division III.

COACH BURNHAM SAYS: "We've added some talented first-years and some valuable experience to our roster and our depth has improved tremendously. Our sophomore class, led by McLean and Chapman, should improve from being some of the top swimmers in their events to winning their events. The women's team should be even more improved than last year. "

MEN'S OUTLOOK: The men's went 3-4 last season in dual meets and will be looking to reach the .500 mark this year. The junior class appears to be the backbone of the squad as Roger Burleigh, Carter Thomas, Jason Lewis and Ian Kyle are among the top performers in the conference. Sophomore Mike Sighinolfi will also make some waves this season. The squad improved drastically towards the end of the year, setting the stage for a solid 2004-05 campaign.

COACH BURNHAM SAYS: "Last year, the men's team swam lights-out at the end of the last season and we're looking to improve upon that this year. We learned a lot at the NESCAC meet in particular about where we are and where we need to get better."
