BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's and women's ice hockey teams invite community members to take part in this weekend's annual 'Skate With The Polar Bears' food drive. The event will take place beginning at 1:30 pm on Sunday, November 21 at Dayton Arena on the campus of Bowdoin College. The cost of admission is one non-perishable food item or paper product for the local food bank.
"This time of year, around the holidays, is when people really need it the most," according to men's ice hockey coach Terry Meagher. "Food banks' supplies start to dwindle and they are sorely in need of non-perishable food items and paper goods, like paper towels and napkins and cleaning supplies. Not only that, but it is always an enjoyable time for our players to meet-and-greet members of the community and all for a good cause."
The Polar Bears men's and women's teams open their schedules this weekend. The women will host Middlebury and Williams on Friday and Saturday, while the men will play at New England College and St. Anselm. The men's team will play their home-opener on Saturday, November 27 against the U.S. Under-18 National Team.
