BRUNSWICK, Maine - Members of the Bowdoin College nordic skiing team competed in the Sugarloaf Uphill Climb on October 10 in preparation for the open of their season on November 1.
In the largest field ever in the event (109 entries), the race consists of a 3,000 vertical feet climb up the mountain. Leading the way for the Polar Bears was first-year Forrest Horton, finishing just nine seconds off the winning pace. Senior Wyatt Dumas took 10th overall. On the women's side, first-year Lindsey Bonner took third place, followed by Lana Mathis in fourth.
Bowdoin will open their competitive ski season with the St. Michael's Carnival on January 14.
