BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College senior softball pitcher Erin Hanley (Foxboro, Mass.) has eclipsed the school record for career strikeouts, with her six-strikeout performance in a win against Bates College on Tuesday afternoon.
Hanley, a Foxboro High School graduate, has placed herself among the best pitchers ever in Bowdoin history, collecting a best-ever 221 strikeouts as well as the second-most wins in school history with 27, just three behind the school mark of 30.
This week, she will likely tie and break the school record with her 51st and 52nd career start while adding to her mark of 289.1 career innings pitched, needing just 15 to break that mark as well. She has posted a career record of 27-18, winning 60% of her games, ranking sixth all-time at Bowdoin.
Bowdoin (19-6) needs just one win in two games against Trinity on Saturday to ensure a berth in the NESCAC postseason tournament. With a sweep of the twinbill, Bowdoin will garner their first-ever one-seed in the tourney.
