MEN'S TEAM CRACKS TOP TEN FOR FIRST TIME THIS YEAR
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's ice hockey team has cracked the top ten for the first time this season in the USCHO.com national poll released today. The Polar Bears sit at number ten after starting the season 8-0-2.
Bowdoin is off to it's best start since the 1986-87 season when the team began the year 11-0-0. Unbeaten thus far, the Polar Bears have captured the Salem State Holiday Classic in addition to notching Head Coach Terry Meagher's 300th career victory this year.
The Polar Bears enter their toughest stretch of the season starting this weekend with the beginning of NESCAC play. Bowdoin will travel to face NESCAC foe Williams on Friday night at 7:00 before traveling to face second-ranked Middlebury on Saturday at 3:00. Bowdoin is currently one of only three unbeaten teams in Division III, joining arch rival and ninth-ranked Colby (7-0-2) and top-ranked Norwich (12-0-0).
WOMEN'S TEAM HOLDS STEADY AT NUMBER TWO
BRUNSWICK, Maine - In the latest national poll released by USCHO.com today, the Bowdoin College women's ice hockey team is holding steady at number two. The Polar Bears are 8-1 on the season so far.
The women's ice hockey team is one of three Bowdoin winter sports teams to be off to a record- breaking start to the season. At 8-1, the Polar Bears have eclipsed the team's best record after the first nine games of a season, set last year (6- 2-1). The team will return to action this weekend when they host NESCAC rivals Trinity (Friday, 7:00) and Wesleyan (Saturday, 3:00).
