BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College field hockey team has been honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association with a National Academic Team Award for their performance in the classroom this fall. In addition, six Polar Bears were honored for their individual accomplishments off the field of play.
Bowdoin, who reached the NESCAC semifinals with a 13-3 mark this season, received the National Academic Team Award by achieving a minimum team GPA of 3.0 during the 2003 fall semester. All student-athletes listed on the institution's NCAA squad list are included when calculating the statistic.
Polar Bears Amanda Burrage, Ashley Conti, Abigail Daley, Christine Gannon, Faye Hargate and Susan Morris received National Academic Squad honors thanks to surpassing the NFHCA's minimum GPA requirement of 3.3 during the fall of 2003.
