Women's Hoops Unanimous Number One


BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team solidified itself as the nation's top-ranked team on Tuesday, being tabbed as a unanimous number one in both national polls. The Polar Bears (22-0) received all eight first-place votes in the WBCA/ESPN /USA Today national poll and took all 25 in the D3Hoops.com national rankings.

With one game remaining the regular season, the Polar Bears are poised to close out their perfect regular season with a final home contest against rival Colby on Saturday. Bowdoin has already clinched the top seed in the NESCAC Women's Basketball Tournament and will host the eighth seeded team in a first-round game on February 21.

The Polar Bears have won 24 straight regular season games and 37 straight at home, owning the nation's longest streaks in both departments. Bowdoin is also the only unbeaten team in Division III basketball- men's or women's.
