BRUNSWICK, Maine - Thanks to stellar performances in three games last week, Bowdoin College senior co-captain Lora Trenkle (Surry, Maine) has been named the NESCAC's Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Trenkle currently leads the Polar Bears in scoring at just over 12 points per game for the Polar Bears (16-0), ranked second in the nation.
Trenkle began the week by breaking a late tie and scoring 10 of her 12 points in the final 4:44 as the Polar Bears pulled away from rival Bates, 58-43. After scoring seven points in just 21 minutes against Connecticut College in a 22-point win on Friday, Trenkle lit up 22nd-ranked Wesleyan for 22 points in a 55-43 win on Saturday. It marked a season-high for the co-captain and was the first time a Bowdoin player had broken 20 points this year.
Trenkle is among the league leaders in numerous categories, and leads the NESCAC in assists at 4.4 per contest. She also ranks 12th in scoring (12.2 ppg), sixth in free-throw percentage (78.6 %) and fourth in assist-turnover ratio (1.39).
