BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's and women's ice hockey teams both appear in the national polls released this week by U.S. College Hockey Online. The Polar Bear women rank fifth in the country, while the men stand at 14th.
The women's ice hockey team (7-3-1) posted two huge wins over NESCAC foes, defeating Wesleyan and Trinity by a combined score of 27-2. Currently, Bowdoin has a six-game winning streak that has seen them out-score opponents 50-5. The Polar Bears were ranked sixth in last week's poll and will host Colby on Tuesday evening.
The men's ice hockey team (8-4-0) had a tough weekend, dropping an overtime contest to Middlebury (3-2) and then falling at Williams (4-1) the next afternoon. Despite the losses, Bowdoin remains in the poll, ranked 14th after placing eighth in the previous week's poll. The Polar Bears will skate into action on Friday when they host Connecticut College.
