BRUNSWICK, Maine - Both the Bowdoin men's and women's ice hockey teams continued to rank high in national polls released on Monday by U.S. College Hockey Online.
The Polar Bear men jumped six spots from 14th to 8th, thanks in part to a 9-3 thumping of then-11th-ranked Babson on Friday night on the road. Bowdoin followed it up the next afternoon with a 12-3 win over UMass-Boston. The Polar Bears (8-2-0) will face their toughest test of the season thus far on Friday when they travel to play at third-ranked Middlebury.
The Polar Bear women, despite two impressive home conference wins, dropped one spot to number six in the national rankings. Bowdoin defeated Amherst (5-0) and Connecticut College (8-0), but was passed by Middlebury, who defeated fourth-ranked Stevens Point. Bowdoin currently stands at number six in the nation, despite defeating fifth-ranked Middlebury earlier this season in Vermont.
