BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's ice hockey team went on the road last weekend and defeated the fourth and seventh-ranked teams in the nation and were recognized on Monday as first-year Meghan Gillis (Whycocomagh, Nova Scotia) was named NESCAC Player of the Week. Bowdoin is 2-0 and will play Utica College at Colby next Saturday.
Gillis led the Polar Bears to the pair of unprecedented wins as she scored the game's only goal in a 1-0 defeat of fourth-ranked Middlebury College, breaking the Panthers' 125-game regular-season league unbeaten streak. Gillis then added two more goals in a 4-1 victory at seventh-ranked Williams College on Saturday. Bowdoin currently has a 27-game unbeaten streak in the regular season, dating back to February of 2002.
