BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's and women's ice hockey teams invite community members to take part in this weekend's annual "Skate With The Polar Bears" food drive. The event will take place beginning at 2:30 pm on Sunday, November 16 at Dayton Arena on the campus of Bowdoin College. The cost of admission is one non-perishable food item or paper product for the local food bank.
"This time of year, around the holidays, is when people really need it the most," according to men's ice hockey coach Terry Meagher. "Food banks' supplies start to dwindle and they are sorely in need of non-perishable food items and paper goods, like paper towels and napkins and cleaning supplies. It's really a win-win situation for us because it gives our players a chance to meet members of the community, especially the young athletes, and it also gives us a chance to give back a little something to the area. Traditionally, it's a wonderful time for everyone involved."
The Polar Bears men's and women's teams open their season on Friday, November 21st when the men host New England College and the women play at Middlebury.
