BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College field hockey player Marissa O'Neil (Manchester, N.H.) has been named NESCAC Player of the Week for her efforts in two Polar Bear wins last week. The junior forward is leading the team in scoring this season with eight goals an six assists as Bowdoin has posted a 7-2 mark on their way to a high national ranking.
O'Neil had an incredible week for Bowdoin, leading the Polar Bears to two wins. O'Neil scored one goal and had three assists in a 5-2 win over Southern Maine before collecting a hat trick in a 5-0 blanking of Connecticut College. For the week, the junior forward scored four times and had three assists, having a hand in seven of Bowdoin's 10 goals.
For her career, O'Neil has scored 28 goals and 12 assists, placing her sixth all-time at the school in career goals and career points (68). Both records are held by Sheila Carroll, who had 50 career goals and 107 career points. Bowdoin will return to action later this week when they play at Husson on Wednesday.
