BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College soccer teams continued to roll this past weekend, and were recognized for their efforts by both being ranked nationally in polls released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Monday. The men's team held steady at number five in the nation, while the women's team cracked the top-25 for the first time this season, sitting at number 23.
The men's team tied reigning NESCAC champion Williams on Saturday with an emotional 3-3 deadlock and will travel to take on both Amherst and Middlebury on the road this weekend. Bowdoin has played overtime in three of their four contests this season and stand at 3-0-1 overall and are ranked as the top team in New England. Bobby Desilets was named NESCAC Player of the Week for his efforts last weekend, including two goals in the tie against the Ephs.
The women's squad continued to dominate the competition, and improved to 4-0 with a 3-0 blanking of Williams on Saturday. Bowdoin has outscored opponents 14-1 this season and will also travel to take on Amherst and Middlebury this weekend. The Polar Bears are led in scoring by senior Jill Falwell who has posted five goals and an assist this year. Bowdoin is ranked fourth in New England.
