BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College has announced the hiring of Ali Kenney as their new women's ice hockey assistant coach. Kenney is 2000 graduate of Brown and is currently a private instructor at Full Stride Hockey in Burlington, Vt.
Kenney brings a wealth of experience to Bowdoin, where she will serve as the lead assistant to head coach Michele Amidon. Her senior season with the Bears, Kenney was the third-leading scorer on Brown's National Finalist team, posting 16 goals and 11 assists, inluding a team-high five game-winners.
After graduating from Brown, Kenney traveled overseas to play in Denmark before returning to play in the National Women's Hockey League in 2001-02. As a forward for the Beatrice Aeros, Kenney scored 37 points as the squad posted a league-best 23-2-5 record.
The Polar Bears have reached the NCAA Division III Frozen Four in each of the past two seasons, placing fourth in 2001-02 and third in 2002-03. Bowdoin won the NESCAC Championship in 2001-02 and has a record of 46-7-4 over the past two years.
