BRUNSWICK, Maine - The
New England Small College Athletic
Conference has announced their
All-Conference selections for softball and
Bowdoin has been honored with two
second-team selections. First-year Megan
Rodgers (Chesterfield, Mo.) and sophomore
Laura Perovich (Hanover, N.H.) were tabbed
as second-team choices. Bowdoin ended
their year with a mark of 10-15.
Perovich, a sophomore catcher, had a breakout season in 2003, starting 23 of Bowdoin's 25 games this season and leading the team with a .348 average. She also led the team in runs batted in (15), total bases (39), slugging percentage (.565) and on-base percentage (.395). She also threw out six base runners attempting to steal.
Rodgers was one of the top rookies in the conference, and led Bowdoin with 10 doubles this year. A starter in every game, she was fourth on the team with a .329 batting average. She was third on the squad with a .487 slugging percentage and placed third on the team with 25 hits. In addition, she was nearly perfect in the field, only making one error all season.
