BRUNSWICK, Maine - The National
Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) has
recognized two Bowdoin student-athletes with
All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of
the Year Awards. Women's soccer player Hillary
Smith and football player Chris Wagner were
honored as recipients.
Strength coaches from 73 colleges and universities nominated athletes from19 competitive sport categories. Each coach selected his or her top male and female athlete for this award based on their dedication to strength training and conditioning, athletic accomplishments, academic and personal achievements, community involvement and leadership qualities. Bowdoin's strength and conditioning coach is Dawn Strout.
"The advantages of strength training and conditioning continue to gain recognition in the athletic realm," according to NSCA Executive Director Robert Jursnick. "These fine young people attest to this understanding and are to be applauded for their perserverance and hard work."
