BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin's Kristi Royer was named Maine State Player of the Week after her performance this past weekend in the NESCAC Tournament.
The senior captain from Lewiston led the Polar Bears to the NESCAC championship by averaging 21.5 points and 8.5 rebounds during the semifinals and championship game. In victories over Williams and Bates, she shot 59.3 percent (16 of 27) from the floor. Royer hit a pair of free throws with five seconds remaining to help ice the championship on Sunday. Bowdoin will host the winner of Salve Regina and Emmanuel in a second-round NCAA game on Saturday, March 8 at 3:00 p.m.
