Women's Ice Hockey Improves Ranking

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's hockey program was ranked among the best in the nation in the preseason, and the first two weeks of the season have seen the team live up to that ranking. In national polls released today, the women's hockey team sits at number two in the nation.

The team (2-0) started the season with two convincing victories over NESCAC opponents Trinity (7-0) and Wesleyan (7-1). Junior standout Shelly Chessie (Fredericton, N.B.) leads the team with three goals and five assists on the season. The Polar Bears return to action this weekend as they travel to Amherst and Hamilton. The team's home-opener is setting up to be a classic, as defending national champions and top-ranked Middlebury come to town on December 7.
