BRUNSWICK, Maine - Thanks to
his play in Bowdoin's final two regular season
games, first-year forward Kyle Petrie (Iowa City,
Iowa) has been named New England Small College
Athletic Conference Player of the Week. Bowdoin
stands at 10-13 overall and will play at Amherst
in the first round of the NESCAC Tournament on
Saturday.
Petrie closed out the season with a flourish, posting a double-double in a non-conference road win over Maine-Farmington on Wednesday. The first-year had 21 points and 13 boards, five assists and two blocks in the 77-73 road victory. On Saturday, with a playoff spot on the line at Colby, Petrie rose to the occasion, leading Bowdoin with 20 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and two steals in the 86-61 win. For the week, he averaged 20.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and six assists per game. Petrie is second on the team in scoring this year, averaging 14 points per game. He is second on the squad with 7.7 rebounds per game and leads the Polar Bears with 4.3 assists per contest.
