Royer Earns NESCAC Honor


BRUNSWICK, Maine - The NESCAC (New England Small College Athletic Conference) has selected Bowdoin senior captain Kristi Royer (Lewiston, Maine) as their Women's Basketball Player of the Week. The Polar Bears are currently ranked seventh in the nation and will play at Bates College tomorrow night.

Royer had a standout week for Bowdoin, as the Polar Bears picked up three wins against NESCAC foes. Royer posted 13 points and had nine rebounds and four assists in a mid-week defeat of Colby. She scored 14 points and had five assists in a 27-point win at Trinity on Friday and then added a 22-point effort, along with seven rebounds and three steals, in a 30-point thumping of Amherst College on Saturday. For the week, Royer averaged 16.3 points per game and shot 63% from the field.

The two-year captain has steadily become one of the best players in school history as she currently sits in 3rd-place all-time at Bowdoin with 1,177 career points and fifth place all-time in rebounds (637).
