BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin squash enjoyed a successful weekend, with both the men?s and women?s teams chalking some important wins. The men?s team took to the road and defeated Denison and Wesleyan at Yale.
The Polar Bears entered the weekend ranked #11 before their 8-1 win over #10 Denison on Friday. Saturday brought a 9-0 dismissal of the Wesleyan Cardinals without Bowdoin dropping a game.
The 12th-ranked women took on NESCAC rivals Middlebury, Williams, and Amherst as well as Smith College at the 10-team Williams invitational, coming up with a 3-1 result. On Friday the girls in black avenged their 2002 Howe Cup 6-3 loss to Middlebury with a 7-2 win. The Bears faced off against Williams on Saturday coming away with a 8-1 loss, then resurfaced with a 9-0 defeat of Smith. The women?s most important match came on Sunday against #11 Amherst, where they emerged with a 6-3 after a scare early in the match.
The weekend?s strong wins by both teams should lead to improved national rankings as they look forward to a trip to University of Pennsylvania and CBB match-ups in the coming weeks.
