BRUNSWICK, Maine - The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced this afternoon that junior Kristi Royer (Lewiston, Maine) of Bowdoin College has been named their women's basketball Player of the Week.
The 5-10 forward scored 26 points in the Polar Bears' 80-66 win over the University of New England last Tuesday. A close game throughout, Royer scored 20 of her 26 points in the second half, lifting Bowdoin to victory. She also chipped in three assists and eight rebounds in the victory. Royer is ninth in the conference in scoring (13.0 ppg) and is second on the team in rebounds (5.3 rpg). The Polar Bears currently sit at #16 in the nation after a 3- 0 start. Bowdoin reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament last spring.
