BRUNSWICK, Maine -
The Bowdoin College women's soccer team
earned two
All-NESCAC selections on Wednesday as the
conference announced their
All-Conference team. The Polar Bears
finished the year 12-2-2, and fell
in penalty kicks to Williams in the semifinals
of the NESCAC Tournament.
Sophomore
defender Kendall Cox (Guilford, Conn.) was
the lone first-team
selection for Bowdoin after leading a stellar
defense that allowed only
14 goals in 15 games this season. In
addition, Cox scored one of the
biggest goals of the year for Bowdoin, ending
Williams' 16-game regular
season winning streak with a 30-yard free kick
goal in a 1-0 win.
Sophomore Christina Woodward
(Lexington, Mass.) was all over the field
for Bowdoin this season, and captured
second-team All-NESCAC honors.
Woodward scored three goals and had two
assists for the Polar Bears, and
was clutch in the midfield and on
defense.
Connecticut College's Christa Toeresz took Player of the Year Honors, while Elise Henson of Williams was Rookie of the Year. Martha Whiting of NESCAC Champion Tufts was tabbed as Coach of the Year.
