The Bowdoin College Polar Bears will host Amherst College for the 81st time in the series history on Saturday. Bowdoin enters the contest having lost to defending NESCAC Champion Williams 38-7 last Saturday. The Polar Bears were trailing 10-7 at the half, but the Ephs took over from there, outscoring Bowdoin 28-0 over the final two periods.
- Amherst blanked visting Bates 19-0 in their season-opener last weekend. The Jeffs did not allow an offensive touchdown in their third straight season-opener. Amherst grinded out the win, rushing for over 250 yards on 51 carries.
- Bowdoin is 9th in total offense in the NESCAC (210 yards/game), while they stand 10th in defense (482 yards/game). The Lord Jeffs rank second in offense (392 yards/game) and fourth in defense (263 yards/game), and were one of only two teams to not allow a touchdown last week.
- Last season in Amherst, quarterback Jeff Browne threw two touchdown passes, and four different players scored as the Amherst took a 35-0 win. The Jeffs scored 21 points in the final 6:23 of the first quarter on their way to their second win of a stellar 7-1 campaign.

- The Polar Bears and Lord Jeffs have faced each other 80 times coming into today, with Amherst holding a 61-17-2 edge in the all-time series. Bowdoin?s last victory was in 1998, a 24-16 win. Amherst has won three straight in the series since the Polar Bear win in 1998.
