Fall Sailing Report #2

BRUNSWICK, Maine - This weekend the Bowdoin Sailing Team competed in four events, the Mrs. Hurst Bowl at Dartmouth, the Hatch Brown Trophy at MIT, the Casco Bay Open at Bowdoin, and the Eastern Series III at USM.

Notes from Coach Sitzmann:

"Highlights for the weekend include a another top ten finish for the women's team (7th overall out of 17) at a highly competitive varsity intersectional, a top-15 finish for the coed team (their best to date) at a varsity intersectional, and a strong finish for Briganti/Titcomb at the Casco Bay Open, at Bowdoin. In the last 6 races of the event Briganti/Titcomb averaged a 3rd place finish to bring Bowdoin back up two places to finish 7th overall for the event"

"Their determination and smart sailing against very good competition gave the Polar Bears a shot in the arm when we needed it and, with Scheerlinck/Bartlett sailing in "A" division, combined to move up 2 places on Sunday. After a rough start on Saturday it was great to see our team come back, and this should provide momentum for us and inspiration for our younger players."
