Fall Sailing Report #1

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College Sailing team opened their season this past weekend with a handful of regattas across the Northeast. Using a number of new combinations, the Polar Bears enjoyed a solid weekend on the water.

"Every team we put out there this weekend was new," according to Head Coach Tom Sitzmann. "We will continue to work hard. Overall the weekend was very positive for the team as a whole."

WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS (According to Coach Sitzmann):

- "Emily/Ellen sailed their first ever college regatta, a varsity event, and finished 9th overall, but got a 4th in the last race!"

- "Frank/Elliott finished second in B div at the Eastern Series I at UNH......Franks first college event!"

- "Laura/Sabrina/Caitlin finished 5th at the Captain's Cup at Tufts, 9 points out of 3rd.....first event for both Sabrina and Caitlin"

- "Tyler/Mel had one of their best finishes in a varsity intersectional....including a 3rd place finish on Saturday."

-"Pieter/Becca sailed their first varsity event together (so Becca what do you think of coed regattas....?) and did a great job against the best B division in college sailing."

- "Ed/Sophie sailed both the UNH and Hewitt together for Sophie's first college event, still waiting for Hewitt results..."

- "Allison/Jackie sailed a very tough A division at the Captains Cup and the Man Labs trophy, getting better together with each race."
