BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College Office of Alumni Relations will host the annual Robert A. Kullen Golf Tournament on Tuesday, June 25th at the Portsmouth Country Club.
The Kullen Golf Tournament was established by friends of Robert A. Kullen ?71 in honor of the former Bowdoin hockey All-American defenseman and co-captain. After graduating from Bowdoin, Kullen coached at Lawrence Academy in Groton, Massachusetts and as an assistant at the University of New Hampshire. In 1986, he was named head coach at UNH. In 1987, Kullen under-went a heart transplant, but returned to coach the Wildcats in 1988, winning Coach of the Year honors. In 1990, Kullen died of complications related to the heart transplant. He was 41.
Proceeds from this tournament finance a scholarship for a student-athlete at Bowdoin. To date, the scholarship fund stands at $84,336. This year's recipient is junior captain Ryan Seymour. We hope that you will join us in a great afternoon of golf with old and new friends, raising money for a good cause.
